4th Grade
 
Fourth grade is a self contained classroom unit. There is one main teacher for social studies, science and religion. The students are split into two equal groups for math and reading/language arts and have the opportunity to participate in physical education, Spanish, art and music.

    • Read for meaning and answer questions in complete sentences
    • Develop research skills
    • Demonstrate critical listening skills
    • Identify parts of a sentence
    • Identify types of nouns, verbs, adverbs and adjectives
    • Identify conjunctions, prepositions, objects of prepositions
    • Correctly punctuate sentences
    •  Compose written work including original stories, poetry, friendly letters, book reports and invitations and strengthen writing process
  •  Mathematics
    •  Multiply 2 digit by 2 and 3 digit numbers
    •  Divide a multi digit number by a 2 digit number with remainders
    • Solve application problems with multiplication/division
    •  Add/subtract fractions with like denominators
    • Add/subtract decimal numbers
  • Science
    • Learn that electricity and magnetism have related effects and useful applications
    • Learn that machines can make it easier to move things
    • Analyze the interdependence of plants and animals
    • Explore how waves, wind, water and ice shape and reshape the Earth’s land surface
  • Social Studies
    • Explore the regions of the U.S.
    • Study Oklahoma history
    • Investigate civics and the U.S. government
    • Demonstrate map skills and identify geographical features
  • Religion
    • Understand the significance of Baptism, Reconciliation, Eucharist
    • Recognize that we are called to show care and concern for others
    • Learn that God offered guidance to the Israelites through the Ten Commandments and Jesus offered us guidance through the Beatitudes and Law of Love
    • Learn to show respect for the gift of life
